The idea is that you advertise in the Bitcoin Mosaic, you will be seen by thousands of people and you also become history of bitcoin. Together, we will create a mosaic where the first blockchain projects, which developed this technology, are represented, in addition to the most important figures of the bitcoin ecosystem and the first companies that bet and relied on this new technology, integrating it in their payments and productive and social processes.
“TheBitcoinPizzaDay” mosaic will be displayed on the homepage of thebitcoinpizzaday.com website, which will last over time and become a bitcoin time capsule, where only a few ones can have a slice of the “bitcoin pizza” and the history of Bitcoin. You can be part of this!
By buying pixels of the “TheBitcoinPizzaDay” homepage, you can use them to put the image you want to be shown in the mosaic. When a user moves the mouse over the image, a slogan that you have previously chosen will appear and when clicking in the image, the user will be redirected to your website.
In addition, if you send us a summary of your project, we will publish it in our blog and share it in our social networks to spread it.
My name is Emilio Fernández and I’m from Burgos, a very cold city located in the north of Spain.
I’m passionate about blockchain. When I learnt for the first time what bitcoin was and understood how does it work and what its purpose is, little by little I went into the rabbit hole, in the same way as in Alice in Wonderland. I discovered countless cases in which the blockchain technology could be used and that would allow a fairer and decentralized world. Just like the internet changed our lives, the blockchain technology will do it again.
With my project, TheBitcoinPizzaDay, I want to leave my mark in the bitcoin world and raise funds to develop new ideas based on this technology.
It’s not a new idea, but one that has worked in the past. I have managed to adapt the original idea to the present with a different approach. Giving it an added value, which will attract millions of people to visit thebitcoinpizza.com website.
Let’s talk about the original idea. If we look back to the year 2005, a student named Alex Tew decided to pay for his studies by creating a website called “Milliondollarhomepage” to sale an advertising space on the internet. He divided the homepage into a million pixels and sold them at a price of $1 per pixel (in blocks of 10x10 pixels). In less than a year, he sold all the pixels and achieved his goal. Here you have a link in which you can read the whole story.
A great idea, right? But Alex didn’t know that, in addition to achieve his goal, he was going to do something else. He created an internet phenomenon with millions of visits to his websites. He achieved, thanks to the advertisers who decided to bet on his idea, to become part of the history of the beginnings of the internet until nowadays. Without a doubt, a very cheap investment for the advertisers who decided to believe in his idea.
All I could think about was: If companies from the beginning of the internet are immortalized in their own time capsule thanks to Alex, why can’t the beginnings of the bitcoin also have its own time capsule thanks to me?
I had to find the solution to achieve it. I kept saying to myself: if I come up with the solution, I will be able to create the bitcoin and blockchain capsule. I will get more people to know Bitcoin, helping to its mass adoption; I will get funds to do other projects and, perhaps, I could also become part of the history of Bitcoin, why not?
How could I do that Alex’s idea worked out with a different formula that would attract a lot of traffic to my website and advertisers? It was a very complicated puzzle. Luckily, it was about to be solved thanks to a domain name that I registered to do another project. That domain was thebitcoinpizzaday.com (at the end of this FAQ, I explain what was the first idea).
What better way to mix Alex’s idea with such an important moment for the bitcoin as ThePizzaDay is? On May 22, 2010, when Mr. Laszlo Hanyecz bought two large pizzas worth 10,000 BTC, he demonstrated the use of bitcoin. On that day, the first transaction recorded with bitcoin is remembered and was named as “the pizza day”, which together with Laszlo, became part of the history of the Bitcoin movement.
I already had the solution: To create a mosaic in which the first blockchain projects were represented, the most important people of the Bitcoin ecosystem, companies that have bet on this technology, etc. All these will be immortalized in a time capsule with its image, motto and official website. Thousand of visitors will be able to explore TheBitcoinPizza and see who they are, were and will be those ones who support the bitcoin and blockchain movement.
The first reason is because I have a put a lot of time and excitement in creating this website and I will use all my energy to make this project successful. But advertisers don’t know me and can question my commitment, there comes the main reason.
The blockchain technology and the bitcoin will have a potential growth in the next years and, nowadays, the foundations of the projects, which will be the strongest ones in the future, are been laid. There are many companies that want to lead the sector, show their commitment to this technology and help in their mass adoption. If you buy your pixels, you will have an image, slogan and a link from your website on TheBitcoinPizzaDay.com homepage, which could be seen by millions of people. This site will be online for, at least, 10 years. Although the idea is to keep it forever. So, you could have a slice of the Bitcoin history!
When Alex launched his website milliondolarhomepage in 2005, the population connected to the internet was only a 30%. The era of social networks was non-existent. Facebook was only used in some US universities, Amazon sold books and only in the US, smartphones didn’t exist, and people only used the internet with a computer.
Think about it. If Alex Tew succeeded with these conditions, nowadays, the potential is a thousand times greater.
In addition to this, if we add that every year on May 22 the Pizza Day is celebrated, a celebration with which for weeks a lot of hype is generated around this day, on social networks and news portals, we have almost guaranteed the traffic to thebitcoinpizzaday.com website. Hundreds of visitors looking at the Bitcoin Mosaic as if it were a famous painting in which if you want you will also be immortalized.
Buying only one pixel wouldn’t be as effective as buying several ones. In a single pixel, an image cannot be displayed and visually it wouldn’t make any sense. Nor could you click on it easily and the site wouldn’t have dynamism.
A pixel costs 0.00002 BTC (2,000 Satoshis). You can buy these pixels in 10x10 blocks (100 pixels), at a price of 0.002 BTC. The mosaic of the homepage is divided into 10,000 blocks (in 100x100 block grids) and you can purchase a block or as many pixels as you want, if they are available.
I only accept payments with cryptocurrencies because I’m passionate about bitcoin and the blockchain technology. I think that bitcoin is the new digital gold and that this technology can change the world and make it fairer. It wouldn’t make any sense to accept payments in conventional money, which will not last forever. In addition, it’s a way to contribute to its mass adoption, demonstrating that it’s something real with which real business can be done.
Analyzing Alex Tew’s project and his website milliondollarhomepage, I read that due to the huge demand of his last 1,000 pixels, he decided to start an auction. He was very successful; he received a lot of attention in the media and his website experienced a high increase in the visits.
I want that the TheBitcoinPizzaDay website also experiences that and get many visitors who browse on the Bitcoin pizza, discovering which advertisers own a slice of this pizza and what can they offer. I think that this idea can create a lot of hype to know who will take the central place of the pizza. We will have high visit statistics.
This site will be online for 10 years until May 22, 2030 (the same day as the 20th anniversary of the Pizza Day). However, I pretend to keep the site online forever. Creating a Bitcoin time capsule, which will last on TheBitcoinPizzaDay.com homepage and in which only a few ones will get their bitcoin pizza slice and its history. You can be part of this!
Yes, the initial idea for the domain name thebitcoinpizzaday.com was another one.
You should know that since 2010, every May 22, the news websites, YouTube channels, podcasts, etc. Talk about the Bitcoin pizza day.
On May 22, 2019, I was watching a video of my favorite youtuber in which, due to the day it was, he was talking about the history of the bitcoin pizza and why it is so important. Suddenly, one of his words caught my attention:
“Today, we are celebrating the pizza day. I’m sure that in a near future this day will be more important than the Black Friday. Remember my words, the next year you will start seeing all kind of discounts when you want to buy something in crypto. It will start with discounts in the blockchain world, but then it will become a very important day of crazy shopping.”
I asked myself, why not? The Black Friday of the cryptocurrencies, the idea sounded pretty good to me. So, I searched if the domain was available and… Bingo! Thebitcoinpizzaday.com was available and I registered it.
I registered it with the idea of creating a website in which anyone could buy any product with their cryptocurrencies and on the anniversary day, people could get great discounts as it happens in the Black Friday; becoming the reference site for purchases in crypto.
This was the original idea for the website. A very ambitious project that needs many resources and knowledge, which I don’t have. Luckily, the idea of the bitcoin mosaic needs less resources and knowledge to carry it out.
If the project is successful, I will have gotten more knowledge on the process, met people who can help me with the project and funds to retake and execute the initial idea. Any other idea related to the blockchain technology is welcomed to be integrated into the website and thus, create a reference of the crypto world in thebitcoinpizzaday.com
